I was over the moon earlier this month to recieve an email inviting me to the final of an Open Call Competition by the Crafts Council in partnership with the National Trust.

The National Trust champion heritage craft skills and promote UK makers through their artisan retail collection. Every year they choose a talented maker to create a special collection inspired by National Trust properties.

I was one of six finalists from across the country to be selected to attend a panel of judges at the National Trust property Tyntesfiled House In Somerset.

The selected artist works with the National Trust to develop a range of handmade products exclusively for us. Every product bears the fingerprint of the maker and is rooted in the places that inspire them.

Finalist were selcetd using a shortlist of quality, concept and commercial potential. The winning artist has yet to be annouced.

I was really honoured to be invited to help judge the Bradford Young Open at Cartwright Hall Art Gallery this summer. The theme was Peter Rabbit: Mischief and Mayhem and the kids really took it to heart. I felt extremly proud that there was so much evidence of creative collaboration between Young People. These skills bode well for all our futures. It was so hard to pick the winners and the judges wanted to say to all the young artists . "KEEP GOING, YOU'RE DOING GREAT !"
